I thought I wouldn’t make it to Rome this trip but on a whim I booked a hotel and hopped on a train to Rome for 24 hours. Admittedly I got on the wrong train and had to turn around after realizing I was heading north instead of south- but at least I was by myself. I loved chatting with all the students on the train heading to Naples, it reminded me of my time traveling on the trains here during college.
Rome per usual was boiling hot. I checked into my hotel, a repeat visit to Hotel dei Barbieri which is lovely spot in an old Palazzo and a great location across the river from Trastevere and walking distance to all the shops and sites I was interested to visit. My first stop was for a quick snack at Roscioli Caffé, a simple more casual spot without the touristy lines of the other Roscioli spots. I had my first iced matcha latte of my trip there which was so delicious and a tiny burrata and tomato sandwich, no photos I was too hungry!
